St Peter Chanel Students make trees

These trees are red river gums which used to live down along Kororoit Creek.
Some of the original trees had scars in them from where the Wurundjeri people had carved out a strip of the bark for their canoes.

Year 6 students made these trees
Aren't they wonderful and all so different!
Some students made the trees individually, whilst others worked in teams. They all used different ways of making the tree trunks and foliage.

after making their tree out of clay, the students could paint the trees with liquid underglazes.
these are colours that can survive being fired at 1000 degrees in the kiln.
The colours will come out very bright after they have been glazed and fired a second time.
